Marc Megens is a pig farmer in the southern part of The Netherlands. His 300 sow herd + fatteners has a SPF status which Marc continuosly is working on to maintain. Going over all risks in and around the farm his doubts always have been with the truck coming to haul manure.
How clean is the 40 cubic meter of air leaving the tank as the manure of his own clean farm is entering the tank? What was the health status of the farm the tank was at yesterday? The out going air is blown out of the tank right beneath the air intake of this SPF farm.
Marc went looking for a solution and build himself a simple and effective solution that brought him peace of mind. One filter placed in a filter box that filters all out coming air of the tank is all that was necessary. Running over more than one year Marc can confirm the investment was worth the effort. Ik heb voor mijn bedrijf bekeken waar de zwakke schakels zitten en waar verbetering mogelijk is. Voor mijn bedrijf was het mesttransport een risicofactor. Op het moment dat er mest
gezogen wordt, komt er ongeveer 40 m3 “vervuilde” lucht vrij.
Omdat het zuigpunt vaak bij de luchtinlaat van de stal ligt, wordt
deze “vervuilde” lucht zo de stal ingezogen. Dit bracht mij op een
idee om de vrijkomende lucht te filteren. Ik ben op zoek gegaan
naar bestaande filtersystemen, die stallucht hygiëniseren. Voor het
zuiveren van lucht uit een mestwagen waren nog geen bestaande
systemen. Ik heb een filterkast gemaakt met daarin een bestaand
filterpakket en de voorzieningen om de mestwagen hierop aan te
sluiten.
Op deze manier heb ik een risicofactor minder en voor de kosten
hoef ik het niet te laten. Voor enkele honderden euro’s was alles
klaar.”
